Hi,

I am having exactly the same problem as described in the original post. Could somebody help me with a solution to this? Again, I’m sure that the archive directory structure is as it should be and no errors get displayed, but when I am taken to the Trac screen after the upload none of our data is shown…

Thanks in advance,

Hi Russell,

You need to enable the XML-RPC plugins. Go to the trac Admin tab, and select “Plugins”, and select “Trac 0.10.4”.

Add checkboxes to all of the plugins from “XMLRPCSystem” through “WikiRPC”.

I want to integrate my Trac tickets into my IDE (Netbeans). I’ve downloaded Cube-n and the Trac conenctor but am having problems connecting it to our Assembla Trac tool. I’ve put the URL and auth information in, and I receive an error that it can’t open the input stream.

Can I access Assembla Trac from other tools?

Trac Assign-To Drop-Down replied by Jeremy Rand

Hi,

I’ve enabled the restrict_owner, but I notice that a couple old users are now listed in the drop-down, who have since left the project. (One of the users is actually a previous username of a current member.) Is there any way to remove those users from the list? Or will this cause problems with the tickets and SVN commits they’ve touched in the past?

In order to see a list of users in the “Assign-to” dropdown menu, each user must log in to Trac, click the Settings link in the top right, and enter their name and email in the “Personal Information” section.

If I have the “Restrict Owner to assigned to” check box enabled, the combo box does not list all the members of my team that are listed as being “Owners” in assembla. If I turn off the check box, I can enter any value in this field, and I want to limit it to valid users.

Anyone have any idea how to either sync the owners or make trac limit to only members of the project?

Trac vs. Ticket. replied by Assembla_Support

Hi Dave, thank you for your input.

Trac does not have a batch update feature. We do not support SQL queries for tickets. Regarding Assembla tickets export, customers can write their own scripts to convert tickets to Trac until we provide this feature.

One advantage to Trac is that it is portable- you can take it away to a different host. Plus a lot of people know it and use it effectively.

Assembla Tickets has a similar feature set and philosophy, but with much better integration with Assembla user accounts, and more features.

We will work on making a features comparison page on our website. Until then, you may call the Assembla President, Andy Singleton, if you would like to discuss the matter in more detail: 1.781.328.2241

Trac vs. Ticket. replied by davekong

Hi,

I’ve been trying out Trac vs. Assembla’s Ticket system on two projects. While I like Assembla’s ticket system’s easy UI + batch editing features, I also find Trac’s flexible query system (direct SQL query) useful. Ideally, I want to use just one system for all my projects.

While I would prefer to stick with anything non-proprietary, I’m not religious in that way. Can anyone give a brief comparison as to the feature sets, pros and cons of each of these bug tracking systems?

I see the option to import Trac tickets to Assembla, I dont see the reverse, which leads me to want to start with Trac anyway.

Lastly, is it possible to batch edit tickets in Trac??

Thanks!

Time tool replied by isakov-da@i-jet.net

There is a time tool in assembla. My team can put time entries there. The problem is that time entries are not connected with the tasks\tickets\projects\milestones we are working on. So I don`t have any opportunity to understand wich time entry refers to what milestone-ticket.

The solution seems to be very simple: add a non-required field to the time-entry table – a link (id) to the ticket. This field should be automatically filled when we use TIME INVESTED BY ME field when editing the ticket. Also if I fill TIME INVESTED BY ME field the TIME REMAINING should decrease correspondingly, but it still should be editable (see XPplanner – very handy tool for agile programmers).

As the result I`d like to build a report with time entries grouped by milestone and or person. I need this because we have a wage plus-bonus system based on milestone deadline and quality and amount of work done.

Hi,

please, describe more what you need.
If you need the ability for users to download SVN revision, – use code.assembla.com for it.

Thank you,
Sincerely,
Igor

Tickets tool is nice. replied by benthroop

After using Trac for sometime, I have to say that you’ve done a great job with the Tickets tool. I’m moving over to it and I think the fact that you allow export to JSON is a nice gesture. Personally, I was concerned about using your or any proprietary system for bugs since I might want to get my data out and move to something else… but that function covers it.

Anyway, no other comments, just wanted to say thanks and nice work.

Files tab more clearly replied by HemantShah

Is there any progress on this front?
We really need this feature. For some of our groups, the binary files storage and sharing is more important. Without the ability to organize them in a hierarchical structure simply making files available online will be of no use. Once the number of files exceeds a certain point they will become frustrated with Assembla.

Please look into this matter as quickly as possible.

Thanks.

Space Backup and Recovery replied by sromano

Hi Mike,

You can back up your SVN repository manually from your Subversion tab or you can set your S3 credentials in the Admin tab to get an automatic backup to your Amazon account.

For tickets, as Igor said, you can use the Export/Import feature in the Settings page of the Ticket Tool, or you can use the Ticket REST API if you need more advanced features.

We will soon provide an integrated way to backup all your space data in one page.
