Integration with External Bug Tracker replied by vineet

Andy, Thanks for the response.

If you guys are providing the email interface – we will look into using it instead and migrating from our old system.

Will look forward to the release this Monday.

If you have a link to compare Assemlta Trac with Assembla Tickets I would like to see it.

Integration with External Bug Tracker replied by andy

I think our system will allow you to do what you want.

You can use our Webhooks tool to integrate with ticket systems that have a REST interface for code commits. You can tell it to post commit events to a URL, with a user-defined post format.

Yes, we can make a correct link to your bug tracker from the code browser. We are in the process of fixing the URL format so that you can substitute the ”#ticket” into any URL string. I posted this ticket last week. We might be able to release it this coming Monday: http://www.assembla.com/spaces/ruby-code-browse…

Assembla Trac does not have an email interface. However, the Assembla Tickets tool does have a “beta” email interface. It is not elegant, but we will be refining it. You can find more information here: http://www.assembla.com/wiki/show/breakoutdocs/...

Integration with External Bug Tracker replied by vineet

Hi,
We are trying to use the svn support at assembla and want to integrate it with our bug tracker.

A couple of questions:
o We are using our own bug tracker because it includes an e-mail to ticket gateway so that bugs can be filed easily. Is this possible instead to use with Trac?

o We would like to be able to put commit comments and have the stream view parse comments of the form #xx to put in a url to the bug database. Is this possible?

o It seems that the integrated code browser does allow us to put in our own url prefixes – however it adds a ’/’ for every generated url which is a problem for many bug databases whose urls are of the form ‘bugId=xx’ as opposed to ‘bugId/xx’. Not adding the extra ’/’ will allow both groups to work. Can this fix be done?

Will appreciate the fixes.

Thanks!

Message Attachments Bug replied by Assembla_Support

Hi, thanks for the detailed info. We have created a development Ticket to look into the behavior of attachments in Messages and add a ‘Remove attachment’ button.

Message Attachments Bug replied by grj1238953

I tried to reproduce it just now by sending a few messages to myself (I have only my name checked), but I can’t seem to get any attachments to go with the message regardless of the order in which I attach/refresh. The attachments are listed on the composition form, but the email that is sent doesn’t contain the files. I asked a colleague to try this too and he got the same behavior. Sorry if I am sending you on a “wild-goose chase” here, but I’m getting some buggy behavior with the message system.

What I describe in this post is different than what I mentioned above. Here I am only sending to myself while in my first post I was sending to the entire team. Also on second thought, I’m not sure if I was refreshing the message page or hitting cancel. Right now I’m more inclined to say that I hit the cancel button when doing what I described in the first post. If you have the time, you might want to check whether or not that causes any bugs.

(I’m using FF 3.0.5)

Yes, we recently changed the Subject of emails, and we are still in the process of troubleshooting and optimizing that. If you want to make a request for user-defined subject lines, please post detailed specs at forum.assembla.com and other users can vote for it. In that request, you can also recommend the best default subject lines for each type of event.

have you changed the format of the topic of alert-mails?

until 19th dec. i received change-alerts with a topic like “Changeset [99] by username”
but now the look like “Changeset ”#99: changemessage” committed by username” and committed by only when the changemessage isn’t too long or has no linebreaks.

can i change this on my own and have to ealier format? it was easier to manage the alert-mails.

Message Attachments Bug replied by grj1238953

If you add file attachments when composing a message and then reload the page, the attached files are no longer listed on the refreshed message composition form (as expected), but they are still attached. I ran into this problem a little more than a week ago when I wanted to remove attachments from a message I was composing. I didn’t see any way of removing them other than starting a new message so I reloaded the page. I haven’t tried to reproduce this behavior to confirm this.

Suggestions for the Messages Tab replied by grj1238953

I am finding that the messages feature on assembla leaves much to be desired. Currently you post messages and they accumulate chronologically in a long list that can extend for several pages. It would be nice if they could be organized by subject area like an online forum. It would be nice if the messages were marked as to whether or not I have read them yet. I am always clicking on old messages because I can’t remember whether I have read them just from their titles and date. Also, it is somewhat unclear if new replies are available. You don’t know unless you have the messages organized by the “recent messages” option, but this layout is very disorganized. Maybe I’m just not using the feature as intended, but I think that addressing these problems would make a assembla a stronger product.

It seems that the problem is specific to Firefox 3.0.5 (possibly just the Linux version). Using another browser (like Konqueror) on the same platform doesn’t result in a blank page when the link is clicked.

No notifications after submitting the code replied by tomekzi

Hi,

There are no emails or stream messages when code is updated via ‘git push origin’. It normally worked (it’s not working probably from your your migration on 3.jan)

git works (we can push/pull the code), but there are no information about it. It really spoils the communication in the team, because we have to ping each other whether they already submitted the code or not.
please let me know when it’s fixed
